Time & Location
About The Event
Becci Davis is an African American visual and performance artist whose work explores the politics of representation, commemoration and monuments, both structural and cultural. It questions how to engage with an archive whose source and steward has historically been the dominant culture that oppressed and exploited marginalized communities. Davis earned her MFA from Lesley University in 2017 and in 2018 received the RISD Museum Artist Fellowship, Providence Public Library Creative Fellowship, the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts Fellowship in New Genres, and the St. Botolph Emerging Artist Award. This project is made possible with funds from the Decentralization Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature and adminstered in Delaware County by the Roxbury Arts Group. Get Woke! events are sponsored by Bushel Collective, SUNY Delhi History Club, United Ministry of Delhi, friends of Fair for All, and M-Ark Project.
